As the coronavirus surges in the United States, many Americans were faced with a choice over Thanksgiving week: Do I change the way I celebrate the holidays?

November isn’t even over, and the country has already seen more new Covid-19 cases this month than in any other month of the pandemic. More than 3 million new cases were reported between November 1 and 22, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

Health officials have been urging the public to avoid travel and large family gatherings that could spread the virus.

Compared to last year at this time, air travel is dramatically down across the country. But Wednesday was still the biggest day for flying since March 16, with more than 1 million people screened.
